Jayson Tatum was on fire, draining 25 points and leading Chaminade to a 72-59 victory.
Chaminade hosted against St. Louis Christian in a stellar performance from the Red Devils.
The 34th ranked team in the DigitalSports National Basketball Rankings jumped out to a commanding start and dominated through the first half. By the midway point, Chaminade had already built up a 47-17 lead.
After a fairly even third quarter, the Red Devils started the fourth quarter flat footed. The Cougars did not hesitate at the opportunity, outscoring Chaminade 26-12 in the final quarter.
The Red Devils’ lead was too substantial for St. Louis to ever threat Missouri’s top team, but the Cougars showed that they would not go down without a fight.
Along with his 15 points, Tatum brought in seven rebounds and two steals. To accompany Tatum’s impressive game was fellow junior forward Will Gladson, who recorded 13 points and five rebounds, finally seeming to recover his form after spending most of last season out with an injury. Junior guard Mike Lewis added on 12 points.
With another win under their belts, the Red Devils advance to 17-3 on the season. Chaminade next faces off against McCluer North on February 13.
